This machine works under the principle of the Pascal. This principle was invented by Blaise Pascal who was living in the seventeenth century. A hydraulic jack contains two metal pistons. The hydraulic transfers the force from the small piston to the larger piston with the help of the fluid inside the two pistons.
A hydraulic jack is one which has two cylinders connected together. The hydraulic jack has a mechanical advantage over the others because of the lever arm connected to it and the ratio between the two pistons diameter. In the hydraulic jack steel piston are used which posses lot of strength to hold the weight.
The principle defines that the pressure inside the container is same at all the points. When Force is divided by the area of the container, which is mathematically known as pressure of the container is obtained. If we have two cylinders are connected together, in the two cylinders one of them should be smaller and another one large. We can apply a small force to the cylinder and this will produce the pressure inside the cylinder. The same pressure will be available on the larger cylinder according to Blaise Pascal's principle.
The force emitted in the second cylinder could be larger then the first cylinder because the larger cylinder has more space then the small. The second cylinder will be resulting larger force because the area is big in the second cylinder. So the pressure will be more on the second cylinder. The Pascal principle allows the hydraulic jack to lift to generate a heavy load, which lifts with large amount of force in it.
